Job Description
Action Staffing Solutions is seeking experienced and compassionate Registered Nurses (RN) for a psychiatric hospital in Pueblo, CO. Travel positions may be available.
Position Summary:
This position provides 24-hour behavioral health acute care in order to provide a safe, secure and therapeutic setting for patients with both psychiatric and medical issues. The ideal candidate will be a caring leader who can provide professional skilled nursing activities in a mental health setting that includes: acute care, chronic support, assessment, interventions and evaluations.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities may include but are not limited to the following. Additional duties may be assigned as needed.
- Participates in implementation of the treatment plan and utilizes the plan of care.
- Care for Clinic, ECT and Admissions patients.
- Initiate, communicate, advocate and follow-up with care surrounding clinic patients
- Coordinate and complete the nursing required assessments, care and documentation directly related to clinic patient’s admission(s)/transfer(s), including completing and coordinating continuity of care for admissions/transfers to/within the hospital.
- Serve as a resource and mentor to all nursing staff on assigned shift.
- Promote and maintain nursing staff efficiency.
- Oversee the attainment and achievement of Unit/Program/Hospital/Nursing Department goals for the specified shift.
- Provide therapeutic nursing care to mentally ill patients.
- Represents the Nursing Department in hospital-wide committees and work groups.
- Provide immediate crisis intervention and response to all emergency situations.
- Responsible for assisting nursing staff with clinical direction of nursing staff, QA/PI activities and to ensure compliance in all areas, and interdisciplinary collaboration.

Minimum Qualifications:
License, Certification, Education:
- BLS/CPR certification is required
- Graduation from an accredited registered nurse program
- Valid, active and unencumbered Registered Nurse license valid for the state of Colorado
Experience: Twelve months experience in a patient care setting, training or education in a clinical setting can supplement up to six months of this experience.
Preferred Experience:
- Two years RN experience
- Charge RN experience
- Medical/surgical experience
Requirements:
- Must be 21 years of age
- Must complete the onboarding and hiring process including application(s), documents, competency testing, background investigation(s) and drug screening
- Backgrounds must be clear of any felony convictions
- Must complete all required training as assigned by Action Staffing Solutions and client/facility pre-assignment and annually including but not limited to sharps injury prevention, HIPAA, and cultural awareness.
- Certifications and Licenses including a current valid driver’s license
- Immunization Records – COVID-19, Hep B, TB test/chest x-ray, influenza for the current season
- All employees must be fully vaccinated (defined as two weeks following the completion of the full series of the COVID-19 vaccine) and submit documentation proof of COVID-19 vaccination. Religious and medical exemptions and reasonable accommodations will be addressed as required by law.
- Must maintain all required licenses, certifications, and health records
- Resume with 10 full years of employment (explanation of gaps such as education is accepted)
- Language: Ability to read, write and communicate in the English language required
- Must have excellent critical thinking skills and the ability to assess situations to make independent, policy compliant decisions
- Must have strong interpersonal skills and the ability to serve the population with empathy, while staying objective and assertive. Must be able to work with people of diverse backgrounds
Physical Requirements:
Due to the nature of facilities physical demands may vary between facilities and day to day, this is not an all-inclusive list.

- Must be able to use proper body positioning and body mechanics including to
- Regularly stand, sit, walk, run, climb, kneel, crouch, bend, twist
- Dexterity and fine motor function including strength, control, lifting, reaching and tool usage.
- Must be able to lift 20 pounds frequently, up to 50 pounds infrequently, and lift or assist in lifting more than 50 pounds at times.
