Job Description

Triage Nurse RN – Per Diem

1.Assess patients’ medical problems and complaints by phone and in person. Provides information and advice for home treatment when indicated.  Arranges for evaluation by a provider when indicated either by scheduling an appointment or telephone follow-up.
2.Educates patients and families by phone and in the Health Center about minor illnesses, medication usage, health maintenance needs, blood sugar monitoring, nebulizer usage and other prescribed health care regimens.
3.Appropriately works within various managed care systems to make triage decisions.
4.Routinely monitors patient flow during clinical sessions.
5.Reviews lab result daily.
6.Handles request for prescription renewals.
7.Performs injections, diagnostic tests and procedures as necessary.
8.Participates in Quality Assurance activities.

Hours:   Per Diem – non benefit eligible position available. Occasional Saturday and/or weeknight coverage is an essential function of this position.  Position offers a competitive salary and free parking and on bus route. This position may involve travel between two locations.

1.Graduate of Nursing School with previous experience in nursing.
2.Massachusetts Nursing license.
3.Experience with telephone assessment and crisis management preferred.
4.Bilingual/Bicultural preferred.
5.Willing to work one evening per week.
