JOB SUMMARY: The Registered Nurse is responsible for the delivery of safe patient care utilizing the nursing process of assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation. Provides direct patient care within the scope of practice. The Registered Nurse also directs and guides patient/family teaching and activities of other nursing personnel while maintaining standards of professional nursing care in Telemetry. The Registered Nurse is directly responsible and accountable for the care given to his/her patients in the Emergency Department.  He / She communicates with the physician about the changes in the patient’s clinical condition including results of the diagnostic studies and sypmtomatology. Is able to respond quickly and accurately to changes in the condition and/or response to treatment. Is knowledgeable about EMTALA regulations and reporting of child/adult abuse to appropriate agencies and Hospital Social Worker. Maintains patient privacy and confidentiality.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, TRAINING
 
 
1.     Current and valid state RN License.
2.     Current BLS (AHA) certificate upon hire and maintain current.
3.     Current ACLS (AHA) certificate 30 days upon hire and maintain current.
4.     Current PALS (AHA) certificate and/or ENPC 30 days upon hire and maintain current.
5.     Minimum of one year experience as a staff nurse RN in an acute care hospital setting; E.R. setting preferred.

Charles River Community Health is an outstanding practice providing medical, pharmacy, dental, behavioral health, and vision services to diverse underserved communities in Allston, Brighton, Waltham & surrounding areas.  The Psychiatric Clinical Nurse Specialist works as integral team member within a dynamic multidisciplinary team to provide direct psycho-diagnostic, psychotherapeutic treatments, psychopharmacological evaluation management to existing clients of the Health Center. Actively collaborates in the formulation of the Health Center’s clinical protocols, policies and procedures. Provides psychiatric consultation, guidance and support to medical, dental and behavioral health providers as well as community health providers when appropriate.  Participates and collaborates on multidisciplinary case conferences for assigned clients.

Responsibilities:
1.Evaluates and treats patients (including walk-ins), provides psychiatric assessment/care, case management, and health education services; prescribes medications as indicated in clinical protocols; assesses psychological impact of illness and treats appropriately; refers patients for evaluation and treatment.
2.Provides consultation to nurses to triage patients who call or walk-in to the Health Center.
3.In conjunction with the Medical Director and Triage Nurses, is responsible for proper storage and dispensing of medications, including monitoring the quality of same.
4.Maintains continuity of care when Health Center patients utilize other health care facilities, i.e. referrals, emergency room services, hospital outpatient departments, specialty clinics and inpatient services.
5.Refers patients for specialty services, in consultation with M.D., provides documentation according to Health Center policies, procedures and follows up on results.

1.In conjunction with Nurse Manager and Associate Director of Clinical Operations and Associate Medical Director/Medical Director, works collaboratively with the other clinic services, is responsible for the day-to-day management of on-site clinical and patient related services. 4.Responsible for receiving sick calls from nursing department and communicating need of coverage between other staff nurses or picking up shifts in conjunction with sister charge nurse and nurse manager when staffing is not available.
5.Functions as a Triage Nurse in the Health Center for 50-60% of the time, and performs management and administrative duties for the balance of the time.
6.Oversight and management of inventory and purchasing of medical supplies for the essential functioning of the medical practice. Supports the maintenance and functioning of the medical equipment to ensure a safe patient and staff environment, and compliance with all applicable regulations and laws.
7.Coordinating preceptorship for nursing students from area colleges and universities

General Summary / Overview
 
The Elliot Lewis Center is looking for an infusion nurse to manage the Center’s infusion suite. We treat approximately 125 infusion patients with multiple sclerosis, many of whom have a monthly infusion. The nurse’s responsibilities include mixing and administering IV medications, monitoring patients throughout the infusions, scheduling patient appointments and organizing their plan of care. The nurse works closely with the MS Center team of doctors, nurses, a social worker, clinical research team and administrative staff to ensure the best possible patient care.  
 
The nurse also deals with reimbursement issues and insurance companies and works with the billing department to guarantee insurance verification and prior authorizations for patient treatment.
 
 Principle Duties and Responsibilities

·         Manage all aspects of the infusion center
·         Perform patient assessment, evaluation and review medications
·         Place peripheral intravenous access; access Mediports and Porta Catheters; draw blood for lab tests when needed
·         Mix and administer IV medications
·         Monitor patients throughout infusions including monitoring vital signs, assessing intravenous sites, adjusting infusion rates, and performing assessments for possible reactions
·         Provide education for new patients and emotional support throughout treatment
·         Document data both on paper and electronically
·         Prepare charts and orders
·         Schedule patients for their treatments and work with the team to organize plan of care (timing of MRI’s, lab work and doctors’ visits)
·         Work closely with insurance companies and the company’s billing department
·         Submit patient insurance information and past medical history for insurance verification and complete prior authorizations as needed
·         Contact specialty pharmacies as needed
·         Order and manage inventory

The head nurse is:
1)     A vital member of the leadership staff of Camp Wicosuta
2)     Currently an RN license in NH or a compact state

Pre-Camp
  • Communicate with health center staff before they arrive at camp to introduce self & answer questions
  • With health center staff, run health center information session during orientation

  • Take the lead on parent communication
