The planning and delivery of professional nursing care is based on knowledge and application of biological, physical and social sciences. RN’s utilize the nursing process to include assessment, planning, implementation, evaluation, and re-assessment to establish the plan of care. The RN’s duty to the patient is to provide safe, compassionate, and comprehensive nursing care. The RN will know and conform to the Texas Nursing Practice Act and the nursing board’s rules and regulations as well as federal, state, or local laws, rules or regulations affecting the nurse’s current area of nursing practice. Utilizes appropriate pain management techniques. Facilitates the identification and resolution of patient’s discharge planning. • Responds appropriately and timely to patient care needs. • Calculates figures and amounts in computing doses of medications and IV fluids and calculates patient's weight in pounds and kilograms. • Responds to crisis in a calm, efficient manner, directing others concisely. • Responds promptly to changes in workload as necessary to achieve optimal productivity and efficiency. • Demonstrates the knowledge of proper identification and reporting medical/health errors. QUALIFICATIONS (Education, Experience and Certifications) • Current Texas Registered Nurse license • BLS, ACLS and PALS required. Current BLS at time of hire; ACLS and PALS at time of hire or within thirty (30) days of hire. • Minimum two years of experience in hospital setting Graduation from high school or equivalent • Knowledge of Microsoft Office. • Must be eligible to work in the United States. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES Ability to multi-task, utilize critical thinking skills, organize, determine priority of duties, some computer skills, effective oral and written communication skills, work independently, work with frequent interruptions, and manage stressful situations.
