We are seeking an experienced OR RN to provide quality patient care using the nursing process, the medical plan of care, and organizational policies.
HOURS:
Full Time
40 hours per week
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
Included, but are not limited to:
Circulates and scrubs for surgical procedures as assigned.
Provides communication between team members in the surgical field and persons outside the operating room.
Confirms surgical site with patient and surgeon.
Maintains sterile environment during the surgical procedure.
Conducts and documents sponge/sharps and instrument counts as required during the surgical procedure in conjunction with the OR technician.
Completes intraoperative documentation of the procedure.
Acts as patient advocate during their stay in the operating room.
Assists with room turnover, including disposal of trash and linen, cleaning of OR table and floor, assembly and opening of sterile supplies.

Due to our current growth, we are seeking a Registered Nurse to provide quality patient care using the nursing process, the medical plan of care, and organizational policies.
HOURS:
40 hours per week
PURPOSE:Assesses patients, plans care, serves as patient advocate and assures optimal outcomes.

Essential duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
The Registered Nurse will provide patient care by:
Reviewing the patient chart by becoming familiar with orders including but not limited to lab orders and results, radiology orders and results, H & P’s and updates, consents
Acting as patient advocate throughout perioperative stay
Maintaining standards of professional care
Explaining procedures/treatment/discharge to patient and family members to alley apprehension and to verify understanding of procedure/discharge
Following all universal precautions and blood borne pathogen protocols
Assuring needed supplies and equipment are available as needed for patient care
Providing for the emotional/physical comfort and safety of patients and visitors
Responding to life saving situations
Providing individualized discharge education and teaching as appropriate.
The documentation of patient information will be completed by:
Documenting patient assessment in the electronic patient record, and nursing care plan
Ensuring that timely, accurate and complete supply charges are documented
Giving a patient report for transfer of care that includes assessment, safety issues including allergies, alerts (falls, isolations, history) on the perioperative patient transfer sheet, or SBAR (if applicable).
Medication administration will be completed by:
Administering prescribed medications in accordance with approved methods and techniques
Accurately labeling all medications
Completing medication reconciliation/charges
The patient will be assessed by:
Preparing Pre-OP/PACU – I and II for needed supplies and equipment
Maintaining awareness of patient’s safety needs at all times
Continuously maintaining focus on patient’s condition
Following up with patient phone calls following discharge
The registered nurse will provide clinical expertise by:
Sharing knowledge with other staff and students as appropriate
Assisting with the orientation and education of staff and students
Demonstrating ability to use critical thinking skills by assessing situation and adapting to changes
Cross-training to other patient care areas
Demonstrating clinical expertise and contributes to the advancement of professional perioperative nursing practices by communicating current research and trends related to a specialty
Expanding clinical expertise through appropriate education

Key Requirements
Registered Nurse with a minimum of 12 months work experience in the UK and an active NMC PIN
Tracheostomy and ventilator experience essential
ITU/HDU experience would be desirable
Care of the spinal patient knowledge desirable
Enteral feeding experience essential
Excellent written & verbal communication skills
Ability to work flexibly and respond quickly to changing priorities whilst meeting deadlines
Ability to build strong relationships with clients, their families and carers
Supportive management style that can bring out the best in others
Confident, passionate and possess a “can-do” attitude
Ability to manage your own diary, your own caseload of community packages which includes working in the community and at Wimbledon head office
